Since Malayalam was the language of people from Kerala, at first it was called “Malayalam Qurbana” (Mass) for all the Catholics from Kerala. The people in various cities, comprising of Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara, and Latin Church members from Kerala organized several Kerala Catholic Associations. These Associations arranged Holy Qurbana (Mass) once a month in various locations and special celebrations were arranged for Christmas and Easter. “Onam” celebrations and picnics were other occasions of cultural gatherings.
ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ വെള്ളം ചേര്‍ത്ത് പകലിനെ ഇരുട്ടാക്കുന്ന ഈ പ്രവര്തിയോടു അമേരിക്കയിലെ ആകമാന ക്നാനായക്കാരുടെ പേരില്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ പ്രതിഷേധിക്കുന്നു.അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഭാരത കുടിയേറ്റത്തിന്റെ വരെ ചരിത്രത്തോട് ചേര്‍ന്ന് നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ചരിത്രം ഉള്ളവരാണ് ക്നാനായക്കാര്‍.ഇവിടുത്തെ പല നഗരങ്ങളിലും പല കേരള കാത്തോലിക് അസോസി യെഷനുകളുടെ കഥ പറയുന്ന അന്ഗ്ഗടിയാത് തിരുമേനിയോട് ഒന്ന് പറയാം, അതിനു മുന്‍പേ പല ഇന്ത്യന്‍ കാത്തോലിക് പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല അതിന്റെ ഒക്കെ സംഘാടകര്‍ ക്നാനായക്കാര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.നിങ്ങള്‍ ഒക്കെ വരുന്നതിനു മുന്‍പേ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഇവിടെ ഒത്തു ചേര്‍ന്നിരുന്നു.അതിന്റെ പിന്തുടര്ച്ചയായിരുന്നു പിന്നീടുണ്ടായ പല കേരള കാത്തോലിക് പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളും എന്ന് മാത്രമല്ല ഞങ്ങള്‍ ക്നാനായക്കാര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു അതിന്റെയും സംഘാടകര്‍.(ഇതിനെ പറ്റി കൂടുതല്‍ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാവുന്നവരുടെ കമന്റ്‌ കള്‍ സ്വാഗതം ചെയുന്നു )
ഈ സത്യങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെ മറച്ചു വെക്കാന്‍ കൂട്ട് നില്‍ക്കുന്ന മുതോലതച്ചന്‍ ഒന്നോര്‍ക്കുക നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത് ഒരു സമുദായത്തിന്റെ ജീവാത്മാവിനെ ആണ്.അന്ഗാടിയാതിന്റെ രൂപതയിലെ സീനിയര്‍ ആയ VG ആണ് മുതോലതച്ചന്‍ .ഈ സമുദായത്തെ ഇല്ലാതാക്കല്‍ ആണോ അന്ഗാടിയാതും, മറ്റാരെങ്കിലും ഉണ്ടെകില്‍ അവരും താങ്കളെ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം?ക്നാനായക്കാരനെ അവന്റെ രീതിയില്‍ ജീവിക്കാന്‍ സമ്മതിക്കാത്ത, നമ്മളെ, നമ്മുടെ സംസ്കാരത്തെ ബഹുമാനിക്കാത്ത, അപഹസിക്കുന്ന രീതിയില്‍, നമ്മുടെ ചരിത്രത്തെ തന്നെ ഇല്ലായ്മ ചെയുന്ന ഒരു മെത്രാന് കൂട്ട് നില്‍ക്കുന്നതില്‍ ഭേദം സമുദായത്തിന് വേണ്ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വെറും വൈദികന്‍ ആവുക അല്ലെ ഉചിതം എന്ന് ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ ആലോചിക്കുക.അന്ഗാടിയാത് ആന്‍ഡ്‌ ടീം ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ നിന്നും നമ്മളെ ഉന്മൂലനം ചെയ്തിട്ടാണ് റോമില്‍ നിന്നും സമ്മതിക്കില്ല എന്ന കാരണം പറഞ്ഞു നമുക്ക് അര്‍ഹത പെട്ടത് നിഷേധിക്കുന്നത്.
പ്രീയ ക്നാനായ സഹോദരരെ ഇതാണ് മാര്‍ അന്ഗാടിയാത് റോമില്‍ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്.ഇതില്‍ അങ്ങിങ്ങ് കിടക്കുന്ന ലത്തീന്‍ , മലങ്കര, ആളുകള്‍ എല്ലാവരും ഉണ്ട്.പക്ഷെ ഇരുപതില്‍ പരം വരുന്ന ക്നാനായ അസോസിയെഷനുകള്‍ ഇല്ലാതെ പോയി.1999 ഇല്‍ ഫിലടള്‍ഫിയായില്‍ നടന്ന സീറോ മലബാര്‍ കണ്വന്ഷന് ഉണ്ട്, ഇരുപതു വര്ഷം ആയി നടക്കുന്ന അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഏഷ്യന്‍ കാത്തോലിക് കണ്വന്ഷന് ആയ KCCNA കണ്വന്ഷന് ഇല്ലാതെ പോയി.(അങ്ങിനെ ഒന്ന് ഇല്ലാതാക്കാന്‍ ആണല്ലോ അന്ഗാടിയാതിനു വേണ്ടി മുതോലതച്ചന്റെ നേത്രത്വത്തില്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ശ്രമം നടക്കുന്നത് )ഇതെല്ലം അബദ്ധം പറ്റിയതാണ് എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒന്നേ പറയാനുള്ളൂ.അത് അങ്ങ് പള്ളിയില്‍ ചെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ മതി.ഇതിനെ ആര് ന്യായീകരിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചാലും കടുത്ത വഞ്ചനക്ക് കൂട്ട് നില്‍ക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂടയെ അവരെ പരിഗണിക്കൂ.

Dear Bishop, while you are singing praises about those who had ONE Malayalam Qurbana a month, we would like to education you that Chicago Knanaites had a much RICHER RELIGIOUS history of conducting and attending in full strength a malayalam Holy Qurbana EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY at american churches and we also used to have NOVENA every SINGLE THURSDAY at the KCS community center. This went on for more than 15 years before any of the Malayalam churches were established. Other Knanaya centers and missions also had similar dedication towards the prayer, holy Bible and church. History is the true past. It cannot be changed just because you do not write it in your lousy website.

Dear KNANAYA BROTHERS, Catholicism WAS NOT our original denomination. Originally we didn't have any denomination. WE WERE KNANAYA CHRISTIANS. The Portughese came to India(LATE 1500S) and forcefully converted us as CATHOLICS. NOW the Syro Malabar came in power. ക്നാനായ യാക്കോബായ സമുദായത്തിന്, സ്വന്തമായി നിയമാവലി ഉണ്ടാക്കാനുള്ള സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഉണ്ട്. പകേഷേ, ക്നാനായ കത്തോലിക്കര്‍ക്ക്, റോമിലെ പരിശുദ്ധ പിതാവിന്റെ കീഴിലായതിനാല്‍, ആ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഇല്ല.
ഇതിന്റെ ഫലമായി, 1986-ല്‍ വത്തിക്കാനില്‍ നിന്നും ഉണ്ടായ കല്‍പ്പന അനുസരിച്ച്, ക്നാനായ സമുദായത്തിന് വെളിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഇണയെ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുന്നവരെ അവരുടെ ഇടവകയില്‍ നിന്നും പുറത്താക്കുന്ന രീതി, അമേരിക്കയില്‍ നടപ്പാക്കാന്‍ സാധ്യമല്ല. അത്തരക്കാര്‍ പുറത്താക്കപ്പെടുകയല്ല, അവര്‍ സ്വമേധയാ ഇടവകയില്‍ നിന്നും പിരിഞ്ഞു പോവുകയാണ് (PLEK = Permitted to Leave Eparchy of Kottayam), തുടങ്ങിയ ന്യായങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും വത്തിക്കാന്റെ മുന്നില്‍ വിലപോയില്ല. ഈ കല്‍പ്പന(Rescript)യ്ക്കെതിരെ പല അപ്പീല്‍ നമ്മള്‍ നല്‍കിയെങ്കിലും, ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ ഒരു പുനപരിശോധന ഇല്ല എന്ന നിലപാടിലായിരിന്നു അധികൃതര്‍.
ഇക്കാര്യം, അല്മെനിയോടു തുറന്നു പറയാതെ കോട്ടയം രൂപതാധികൃതര്‍ വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി, ഒളിച്ചു കളിച്ചു. ഇനിയും അത് തുടരാന്‍ ആവില്ല എന്ന സ്ഥിതി ഇപ്പോള്‍ സംജാതമായിരിക്കുകയാണ്. പുറത്തു നിന്ന് കല്യാണം കഴിച്ചവരെ കൂടി ക്നാനായ പള്ളികളില്‍ അംഗങ്ങളുടെ ലിസ്റ്റില്‍ ഉള്‍പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്നതിന് തെളിവ് ഹാജരാക്കണം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു അങ്ങാടിയത്ത് പിതാവിന് കത്ത് വത്തിക്കാന്റെ പ്രതിനിധി നല്‍കിയ വിവരം, രഹസ്യമായി സൂക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ നമ്മുടെ വൈദികര്‍ കിണഞ്ഞു പരിശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, ഒരുമാതിരിപെട്ടവര്‍ക്കെല്ലാം ഈ വിവരം ലഭിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു.
ഇതിന്റെ പ്രത്യാഘാതം - ക്നാനായ കത്തോലിക്കരെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം – “ക്നാനയത്തിന്റെ അന്ത്യം” ആണ്. അങ്ങിനെ അല്ലെന്നു സ്ഥാപിക്കാന്‍ അമേരിക്കയിലെ VG പല കള്ളത്തരങ്ങളും പറയും. പക്ഷെ സത്യം ഇത് തന്നെയാണ്.
ഒരു ഉദാഹരണം പരിശോധിക്കാം. അമേരിക്കയിലുള്ള നിങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരാളുടെ മകന്‍, ഒരു വടക്കുംഭാഗക്കാരിയെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു ക്നാനായ ഇടവകയില്‍ തുടരുന്നു. കുറെ വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ശേഷം ആ മകനും കുടുംബവും കേരളത്തില്‍ മടങ്ങി നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ താമസമാക്കുന്നു. അവിടത്തെ പള്ളിയിലെ വികാരിയച്ചന്‍ എന്ത് അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍, അവരോട് അവര്‍ ക്നാനയ്ക്കാര്‍ അല്ല എന്ന് പറയും? പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ തന്നെ, അവര്‍ നിയമനടപടിയ്ക്ക് മുതിര്‍ന്നാല്‍ എന്തായിരി ഫലം?
സഹോദരന്മാരെ, നൂറു വര്ഷം മുമ്പ് നമുക്ക് മാക്കീല്‍ പിതാവ് നേടിതന്ന രൂപത ഇല്ലാതാകുന്നതിന്റെ ആരംഭമാണ് ഇത്. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളോളം നമ്മള്‍ അച്ചന്റെയും, മെത്രാന്റെയും ഒത്താശയില്ലാതെ നമ്മുടെ തനിമ കാത്തു രക്ഷിച്ചു. ഇന്ന് അവരുടെ പിടിപ്പുകേടും, കെടുകാര്യസ്ഥതയും കൊണ്ട്, നമ്മളുടെ “ക്നാനയത്തം” ഇല്ലാതാവുകയാണ്.
രക്ഷപെടാന്‍ ഒരൊറ്റ മാര്‍ഗമേയുള്ളൂ – 1653-ല്‍ കൂനന്‍ കുരിശു സത്യത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് നമ്മളില്‍ നിന്നും പിരിഞ്ഞു പോയ, നമ്മുടെ തന്നെ സഹോദരരായ ക്നാനായ യാക്കോബായക്കാരുടെ കൂടെ ചേരുക. നമ്മുടെ മെത്രാന്മാര്‍ക്കും, വൈദികര്‍ക്കും ഇത് സ്വീകാര്യമാവില്ല; അതിനു അവര്‍ക്ക് അവരുടെതായ കാരണവും ഉണ്ട്.
നമ്മുടെ ക്നാനായ തനിമ നിലനിര്‍ത്തണമെന്ന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന ഓരോ ക്നാനയക്കാരനും, ഇപ്പോള്‍, ഉടനെ തന്നെ ഒരു തീരുമാനം എടുക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു – അങ്ങാടിയത്തിന്റെ കീഴില്‍ പെട്ട് നമ്മുടെ തനിമ ഇല്ലാതക്കണമോ, അതോ ചിങ്ങവനത്തോട് ചേര്‍ന്ന്, നമ്മുടെ തനിമ സംരക്ഷിക്കണമോ എന്നതാണ് ആ തീരുമാനം.
ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍, Chicago Kna, American Kna, Sneha Sandesham, ഇവരില്‍ ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു പോളിംഗ് നടത്തി സാധാരണക്കാരുടെ അഭിപ്രായം ആരായണം എന്ന് അഭ്യര്തിക്കുന്നു. അതിരൂപതാതികൃതര്‍ക്ക് അല്മെനിയുടെ അഭിപ്രായം ആരായുന്ന കീഴ്വഴക്കം ഇല്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞത്.

DeleteAll those revealed in your mail are true. As per orders of the Catholic Church, the 'KANA's (ie. knanites married to non-knanites) and their families are official members of knanaya parishes, if they are outside the territorial jurisdiction of Kottayam Diocese.
ReplyDeleteBut unfortunately, the leaders of the Church most efficiently keep it as a top secret from the poor knanites! The Catholic church, being authoritarian, has least transparency! Keeping it a secret doesn't do any good to the knanaya community. Then why it is kept so, is known only to the heads, VG or the leaders! With the great influence of such leaders, many of the poor knanites, with much grief, might not move a little finger against this injustice, but will bear the consequences and remain calm with heavy hearts! But one thing is sure that the vast majority of the knanites around the globe will never accept it.
So, the knanaya community is going to be divided sharply into two - for and against inclusion. This is the beginning of the speedy extinction of knanaya.
Remember the 'knanaya law' evolved through the fundamental tradition of 'endogamy, combined with exclusion' of the 'KANA's, that -
"To be a part of / member of the community, the knanite should not be married to a non-knanite".
Strictly speaking, Knanaya is not a religion, but a community. Knanaya parishes are for the (Catholic) members of that Community only. A knanaya parish is a part of the knanaya community. So, non-members cannot be a part of it. If they are admitted, the parish will no more be a 'knanaya' parish. It doen't make difference with any other sero-Malabar parish. So, the name 'knanaya' is totally irrelevant for that parish after inclusion of a KANA family.
When one could become a 'knanite' only by birth, how could a non-knanite - whose both the parents are not knanites, or a KANA - be included against the unchangeable fundamental knanaya law?!! Then how could anyone call it 'knanaya'?! So, all such parishes and missions are 'pseudo'-knanaya only.
As one cannot change his parents, a KANA too remains to be a knanite forever, though he ceases to be a member of the Community. A knanite could never become a non-knanite or a non-knanite, a knanite! Thus, though all members are knanites, all knanites - ie. KANAs - are not members of the knanaya community.
Unless it is for safe-guarding the interests of knanaya, I am not sure why a separate Diocese should be granted by the Church?! So, unlike the Heads of other Dioceses, knanaya Heads and Leaders have a special and additional responsibility of safe guarding at least the basic interest/ concern of the Knanaya community ie. preservation of the tradition of endogamy! If it cannot be preserved, the only way is to merge with the Sero-Malabar without remaining as a separate Diocese as 'knanaya diocese'!

Part Two ...In spite of all the above,Your suggestion to merge/ join with the knanaya Jacobite Diocese is most impracticable and unacceptable to any Catholic for that matter, though the faith is said to be the same and only the hierarchy is different! Because KANA families cannot be included in a parish if it is referred to as 'knanaya', the only option is to discard the parish and resort to total non-cooperation with it and to join any Latin parish as long as we are outside the territorial jurisdiction of Kottayam Diocese! If we stand together and act like this, eventually, the Church will have no choice but to accept our tradition of exclusion. We should be prepared for such sacrifices to safe-guard the eternal traditions of our fore-fathers.

One is a Knanaya by birth and not by choice.. A Knanaya is designated by the God, in the womb itself as a chosen one to give leadership in the establishment of HIS Kingdom in this world.. To be a Knanaya is not a matter of Racial Pride as you seem to be making or projecting, rather it is a matter of Great Responsibility.. Those who do not want to take this huge Godly Responsibility would want to leave the fold.. Why do you want to cheat others too to leave the fold or help design a system by which Knanaya is eradicated lock, stock and barrel?.. Designing with aggressive mentality, Luring & cheating is the handy work of Satan.. Please do not let him play on you.. Do not give yourself up to Satan..
ReplyDeleteLike I said, all Knanaya, Jacobite or Catholic, including Priests or High priests are all first a Knanaya as designated in the womb.. It is only then that they decided while growing up, to become a Priest and then to become a High Priest.. The Priests are ordained and/or consecrated later by HIM to help all of us in our Spiritual & Ecclesiastical needs.. Therefore, it is not for these Priests to decide or guide us in deciding to be a Knanaya or not to be a Knanaya.. It is up to each individual whether or not to go by the designation, as accorded to you with the said Authority & Responsibility by your Lord, and not by the orchestrated planning, decision and guidance of Satan..
We will respect the Priests and High Priests for what they are within the given system whether Catholic or Jacobite, no matter.. But the true Knanaya will never heed to Satanic designs even if it is orchestrated through some priests, high priests and/or laity..

ReplyDeleteThe e-mail attached below indicates that Malankara Jacobite faction of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church is trying to do to Kna Jacobites what Rome did to Knanaya Catholics. So even if you run to Chingavanam there is no hope. We cannot hide our racist policies any more. I agree with Mor Angadiath. Knanaya Catholic missions in America are being constituted as an inclusive entity. Under the order from Rome, these missions shall not exclude Knas in the name of endogamy. Every Knanaya entities and organizations including KCCNA and local associations must adopt this policy as long as we are part of the Church.
ReplyDeleteIt is time for us to replace the racist definition of Kna based on racial purity with a secular definition based on relationship. We are Knas not because we are pure or endogamous, but because we can claim the status as the children of Knanai Thomman and other Knanaya ancestors. Non-endogamous Knas, their children, spouses and adopted children have a birth right to be part of Knanai Thomman’s family, church and community. Denying them their birth right is not divine, but a cruel and inhuman practice.
I hope and pray that our bishops, priests and Knanaya leaders who will be meeting this weekend will make the right decision. They have a moral obligation to obey church orders and a legal obligation to follow the laws of this land.

When i say i am a Knanaya, the definition is very well understood. When I become off marriage age, i now have an obligation to either marry another Knanite and maintain the heritage, or I am free to marry anyone and remain within my family but the only thing that changes is that the 'Knanaya' name cannot be automatically given to my offspring's and future generations. This is not too hard to understand. This is the obligation i have towards my heritage, my tradition, my culture.
DeleteWhen i am a resident of a particular country, i am obligated to follow the laws of that land. Obligation is a two-way street. Can we expect the Catholic church to be obligated to accept the laws of America regarding Pro-Choice/ Birth control? By me being a Knanite does not break any lands law since we claim to be just like Nairs, Nambootheries, Sikhs, Brahmans, Jews etc. According to the new testament, Mary and Joseph were Jewish so can we all claim to be Jewish and demand to be included in a Synagogue? According to the above gentlemans definition of "racial purity with a secular definition", what happens if a knanaya girl marries a Malayali muslim, what happens if a knanaya guy marries a 'karumbi' girl in america, what happens if a knanaya girl marries a guy with a polish decent etc and god blesses all of them with few children. Should the childrens (who will always remain GOD's blessing) be called Knanite.
DeleteAs long as the term 'knanaya' is there, no KANA or non-knanite can be included, as it ceases then to be 'knanaya'. Knanaya has no existence without the practice of endogamy. If you want to be non-endogamous, the solution is simple; just take away the term 'knanaya'. Don't misuse this name to denote non-knanaya too. Its concept cannot be changed, only the name can be taken away.

ReplyDeleteThis is a huge Public Relation Fiasco for the Bishop and VG. I hope all the PRO's of ALL the Knanaya churches can do something and prove their names worth. Their job would be to include our reference in the official history of the diocese and not to sell some sugar coated story back to us. You all PRO's got your pictures and names published, now i pray you all PRO's can live up to your names.
ReplyDeleteAre you guys praying now. It is 2.40 pm in LA. Time to wrap up things and come to conclude everything from Our Arch Bishop. We are waiting to hear from him to see how he turning the American Knanaya history. I hope he will ask the unconditional resignation from the clergy. If not, my friends today is the beginning of real Knanaya revaluation in modern world Knanaya History. I am ready for it. How about you guys are ????? Wake up and raise your thoughts and concerns.

ReplyDeleteSyro Malabar Missions are crash landed in different Cites all over USA with the support of Boneless EX KCCNA leaders . They don't have principle of life and will stand both sides like a live Fish .
ReplyDeleteWhat if science proves that we were not a pure endogamous community ? ( ancestry study done by Curiac Thannikary ) of course then we will ignore the science and go with false believes of 100 percent purity but when it comes to everything else we use science like medicine, driving and flying etc. So in order to be good christian, we must not discriminate based on false believes of blood purity or give up christianity and be a cavemen.
