With the recent developments in our community, it look like many of our
people are LOST without a clear direction. Some are wondering if the
practice of ENDOGAMY IS IN DANGER ?
In my opinion endogamy is not at all in danger. As a matter of fact I
believe that with proper planning and commitment we can strengthen our
position.
Endogamy is a communal tradition, not a religious practice. As long as the
community through its lay organizations promote endogamy, it is not in
danger. Neither Rome nor the Syro Malabar hierarchy has no control on what
our social organization preach or practice.
What may be in danger is the future of Knanaya Missions. If endogamous
parishes are not allowed by the Syro Malabar Diocese of Chicago, that
diminishes the relevance of Knanaya Missions or Parishes.I have few comments on that issue also. We must ask ourselves a question
that what exactly are the missions providing us and our families. All the
religious needs are provided by the local Latin Parish or the Syro Malabar
parish. The other advantages are social advantages. Do we need Knanaya
Mass to develop commradery between the community members?
In my opinion the Knanaya community with its core principle of endogamy can
not only survive but also flourish in North America without the missions. To
support Dr. Thachara's view, we must strengthen the lay organization- KCCNA-
with strong leadership with vision and wisdom.

ReplyDeleteഒറ്റ നോട്ടത്തില്‍, നിങ്ങള്‍ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന Theophine Chamakala-യുടെ കത്തില്‍ എന്താണ് കുഴപ്പം എന്ന് വായനകാര്ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാവുകയില്ല. ഇത് നമ്മുടെ വഞ്ചക ജനറാലിന്റെ സ്വന്തം മാധ്യമത്തിലൂടെ, അയാളുടെ അനുഗ്രഹാശിസ്സുകളോടെ പ്രസധീകരിച്ചതാണെന്നും, സമുദായത്തിന് ദോഷമുള്ളതോന്നും ആ ഗ്രൂപ്പില്‍ കൂടി അയക്കുകയില്ല എന്ന് അങ്ങേര ഗീര്വാ്ണം മുഴക്കിയിരുന്നു എന്നും കൂടി കൂട്ടി വായിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് കാര്യത്തിന്റെ തമാശ മുഴുവന്‍ മനസ്സിലാകുന്നത്. അപ്പോഴാണ്‌ ഇത് മുത്തുവിന്റെ അന്നത്തെ സ്വന്തം അഭിപ്രായമായിരുന്നു എന്നും മനസ്സിലാകുന്നത്.
പത്തു വര്ഷം മുമ്പ്‌ തിയോഫിന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതില്‍ മുത്തുവിന് പ്രശ്നമൊന്നും തോന്നിയില്ല. സത്യത്തില്‍ മുത്തു തിയോഫിനിലൂടെ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
പരിണാമം സംഭവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്ന വാനരനല്ലേ നമ്മുടെ മുത്തുകുട്ടന്‍!

ReplyDeleteWhy blame VG only. Theophine's email shows the hypocritical stand of our leaders. It is our leaders who are betraying our community. Read the vision and missions of all EX KCCNA presidents...what a community spirit?? All of them, except Abraham Niravath, John Akasala & Jonny Puthempurayil, are the real enemies of KCCNA and our community. They are competing to be in the good book of VG and Angadiath.The very foundation of KCCNA began to shake from Vacha's presidency.

What made him to change like this. Is he is Man or worst than a women ? I think Hijada from Bombay and Delhi have better stand. What measures Mutholam take to accommodate Knanaya peoples genuine demand.

I asked a few friends and came to know that you have played an important role in the affairs of the community during the past many years and you have been a great financial provider of Kottayam (Arch) Diocese. My information could be true, could be false.
But from what you wrote in the letter reproduced above, I am clear about one thing – your total lack of principles.
You said, “With proper planning and commitment” we can strengthen our position. You also pointed out that “endogamy is a communal tradition, not a religious practice.” In the same letter you also talk about the lack of control of Rome/Syro Malabar hierarchy in our social organizations.
But, dear friend, what has been happening during the last 10 – 15 years right under your nose? Some goons under the beck and call of a mean man (നരാധമന്‍) in cassocks known as Muthu hijacked our community. And what did meek leaders like you do about it? The long dress on the unholy body of these criminals frighten you and you cowards surrender.
Do you know that they are trying to castrate your great “social organizations” by trying to bring them under Canon law? When it happens, you spineless cowards will sing “Halleluja Mutheluja!”
Keep singing – what else are you all capable of!

The issue that need our urgent attention is to find a way to liberate our community from the total control the Knanaya clergy had established over our lives. Just because our parents baptised us when we were only weeks old and we remained in that christian faith, the Knanaya and the Syro Malabar clergy considers us as their prey to conrtol and exploit.. All our religious needs could be availed from the Latin Catholic Churches, one which could be find within a couple blocks from our residence. In fact most of our children are more comfortable there. 'Vivaha Kuri' is a powerful weapon the Syro Malabar Clergy use against their faithfuls. We need to take it as a challenge. Let us ignore them and their 'Vivaha Kuri' by not availing any of their services. Let us have our children's marriages blessed at the Latin churches.
